The Importance of Sleep
Sleeping is important for the maintenance of good health and well being. Mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety are protected with good quality sleep. During sleep, the body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain physical health. In children and teens, sleep also helps to support growth and development. The damage from sleep deprivation has a huge impact in our daily activities such as driving a car or working because affects how well we think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. In addition, sleep insufficiency has also been related to decrease cognitive performance in soldiers.
