So we’ve got the holiday feast part figured out. Eating (in moderation) is important, but so is moving. And no, this does not mean you have to make the decision between family time and gym time! The holiday season is actually one of the best times to combine family AND fitness together.
Don’t put pressure on yourself to start getting healthy next month; you can start making better choices now. The earlier you start, the easier it will be for you to carry this habit over to the new year and reinforce fitness as a permanent part of your lifestyle.
We understand that getting to the gym during the holidays is difficult. Here are some tips that keep you moving throughout the day:
-At the mall shopping? Take the stairs instead. Bonus points if you are lugging around those shopping bags.
-In the living room chatting with friends on the phone? Walk around and stretch while talking.
-In the kitchen waiting for cookies to bake? Fit in some lunges, push-ups, and squats while that oven is going.
Incorporating family and friends with fitness will make happier holidays. Look at this brain scan before and after exercise; it really does make us merrier :)
So why not go for a leisurely walk in the snow, or get that heart rate pumping with a friendly snowball fight at your next holiday gathering?
If you’re anything like us techies, you’ll be sure to track all those fun movements with an activity tracking wearable! TactioHealth will happily sync that into your next Personal Health Report.
Move with TactioHealth for a merrier you.
